A five-star review for The Kiminee Dream
It feels like forever since I've posted news here. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought me down quite a bit, which, I know, is true for so many others. For example, I've been watching too much Netflix (just finished the limited series Maid, which brought me to tears at several points) instead of writing, dancing, enjoying the beautiful Sonoma County countryside, visiting with friends and family. But there is a bit of good news for The Kiminee Dream. Here's a new review just posted on Amazon by the terrific poet Terry Tierney:
The Kiminee Dream Could Be Your Dream
"The first thing that welcomes the reader into The Kiminee Dream by Laura McHale Holland is the rich language. Poetic rhythms draw you deep into the dream-like world where the fantastic emerges as reality. As a product of the midwest, I see echoes of my own childhood in Kiminee, Illinois, though all of the characters in Holland's novel are vibrant and unique. The compelling array of characters makes the town come alive as if you had just moved into Kiminee and began observing and listening to the quirky and mysterious lives around you.
"Holland has created a memorable reflection of a town through her artistic use of magic realism that makes her tale feel all the more real."
I am so very grateful for this. When I purchase books online these days I shop at Bookshop.org because a portion of every book purchased there is donated to local bookstores. Authorpreneurs like me, however, still need to make some effort to gain traffic on Amazon because millions of people look for and buy books there.
